Title: 9N starter won't kick over motor
Post by: ArtilleryVet on April 20, 2010, 05:49:17 AM
As of today I have replaced my starter switch, voltage regulator, wiring harness, generator, and new battery.  I did all of this because my 9n will not start when I push the starter button, not even a sound, it just acts dead.  I've tested all of the wires and juice is getting to everything.  Yesterday I used jumper cables and hooked from the battery to the starter motor.  The starter motor turns but it will not kick over motor.  Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone what to do next?

This sounds like your motor is froze..... How long has the tractor been setting?
You may have to get some one to help you and give you a pull....

Gotta give a little more info.was it running at one time when you had it? did it just stop running?did you just get it? If it spins but does not engage motor, the bendix is bad or has fallen off.Take the starter off and take it to a "mom&pop" starter shop & get it looked at &-or fixed,or if bendix is off have starter checked & replace bendix.---lha
