Title: Valve assemblies
Post by: seldomright on July 18, 2011, 10:05:20 AM
Hello All,
I am in the process of rebuilding a 2n engine.  The engine has been rebuilt in the past.  In reading documentation it seems important to reassemble the valve assemblies in the same port they were removed from.  However the last person to rebuild this engine did not pay attention to  a couple of things.
1.  The springs (later version) were not consistant.  Some had the close coils on top and some had the close coils on the bottom.

2.  A couple of the valve guides with the rubber seasl intended for the intake valves were used in the exhaust ports.

What is more important.  Replacing the valve assemblies in the same port they were removed from or putting the correct valve guides in the right ports.  I would disassemble the units and keep the valves in the same ports but put the guides where they belong.  Thanks in advance for any guidance.
