Anti-Sway Bar Setup
« on: August 24, 2011, 06:44:24 AM »
Can someone help me understand sway bars for my 9N?  Here is my setup:  My tractor has the bracket under the left fender with the 4 different mounting holes for the sway bar.  Under the right fender is a bracket, but it only has one hole.  In that hole is a pin.  There is also a pin on the left side bracket that lines up with the pin on the right side.  However, both of these pins are not in line with the pivot point of the lower lift arms.  I purchased (2) adjustable anti-sway bars from TSC yesterday and hooked them on my tractor.  I first attached the left side to the tractor then to my bush hog.  I had to lengthen the bar to make it fit.  Next I tried to put the right side on.  After attaching it to the tractor, it was too long to attach to the implement.  I have been told that it is important to have these lined up with the pivot point of the lifting arms.  I did disconnect the lifting arms from the bush hog and stuck a pin throught the eyelet of the lifting arm and the anti-sway bar to "lock" them together.  I am able to manually lifet the three-point and it doesn't seem to bind up.  I am reluctant to try it with the hydraulic system until I find out if this setup is acceptable.  I don't want to tear anything up.  I already tore up my PTO shaft, but that is a topic for a different posting.  Is there anyone out there that can give me some pointers for this?  Thanks!
