1940 ford 9n price
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:53:41 AM »
I found a 1940 ford 9n that comes with a back blade. hydraulics work fine, engine runs good, oil looks good not burnt or anything, no clunking or anything. the guy that's selling it bought it from his neighbor that took care of it from what he said. i'm not sure if it's 12v or 6v. i think it might be 6v because it doesn't have a regular alternator on it. it also has brand new rear tires, front ones are weather checked but don't leak air. it doesn't have headlights on it, but it shouldn't be too hard to mount some foglights or check ebay for some lights. he wants $2000 for it and said he'd deliver it to my house since he only works about 30 minutes away. does $2000 sound like a pretty good price?

Around here (Penna. lakeshore) an 8N that is 100% solid but a worker (mechanically perfect but bad paint) is hard pressed to bring $ 2500.  A 9N in same condition would bring about $ 1750 - 2250 in my opinion.  In the end I suppose it depends on what you want the tractor to do.  I wouldn't sell my 9N for all the gold in Fort Knox but others probably wouldn't give me $ 2000 for it.

Without seeing the tractor it's hard to tell. The new rear tires are a plus. In my area the 9n's are selling for $1000/ $1800. 8n's about the same price maybe a little more. Non runners are going for $500/$600. The market is way down. If you can post some photos it might help.
I guess it would depend want you are going to use it for. For work the 8n,naa or the hundred series might be a little better for you, for about the same price, but it's your call.
