9N...Runnig Boards or not???

Just bought a 9N and it has no running boards. I am new at these and wondered if they came with them or did they come with no running boards. If the later is true, will the boards from an 8N fit on them.

I was told by an old-timer that the 8N's came with them but not the 9N's.  Don't know about the 2N's.  Supposed to interchange.  I saw a picture of one 9N where a guy fabricated running boards out of expanded metal and bolted them at the back and had a strap over the front foot peg to hold it in place.
